Marloth Nature Reserve
Marloth Nature Reserve lies in the majestic Langeberg Mountains. The vegetation is predominantly mountain fynbos with patches of afro-montane forest. Marloth supports numerous animal species. Mammals include common duiker, baboon, leopard, caracal & porcupine. The area is also rich in birdlife with 114 species having been recorded. Welcome to Appelsbosch Farm – Horse Trails for Kids, the whole family, for beginners & even half day kids camps/pony camp. Our farm is home to 500 dairy cows, heiffers and calves. We also breed Horses and enjoy our free range potbelly(ish) pigs and chickens. We believe in a holistic approach to horse training and keeping. In other words we strive to provide the horse with as natural an environment and circumstances as possible in all areas of their lives – home, family, friends, food and work(training). We provide the following, kids/family lead rein trail rides, kids beginner riding lessons, kids mini pony camp & scenic trail rides at very affordable rates.

Swellendam Golf Course
This golf course was designed and built by Ken Elkin just after World War Two and is rated as one of the top nine hole golf courses in the country. Swellendam's par 72 golf course is nestled at the foot of the magnificent Langeberg mountains, with views overlooking the town, surrounding farms and the Hermitage Valley. There is a good variety of difficulty, which offers a true test for all levels of golfers. Open to the public 7 days a week, this club welcomes visitors local and abroad. The clubhouse is manned daily from 07h30 to 19h00, except on Sundays when the club’s opening hours are shorter. Swellendam’s mild winter climate makes play possible all year round. With permanent irrigation and proper tending, it has become a jewel in the Western Cape with bent grass greens. Club cars available. Come and enjoy our unforgettable hospitality.

Rain products are responsibly handmade with love and care for our customers, craftspeople and the environment.

Hermatige Valley Berry Farms
Youngberry, Blackberries and Blueberries are grown in the Hermitage Valley, Swellendam. Harvest time is from the beginning of November until approximately the 20th of December.
Our private cellar produces a range of delicious liqueurs including Youngberry, Honey, Aniseed, Rooibos, Peppermint, Lemon and Hazelnut. In addition , the farm kitchen produces a tempting array of liqueured fruits, jams, dessert syrups, chutneys, relishes, pickles and gifts which can all be sampled and purchased in the infamous “tasting room”.

Drive a little further where you cross the Breede River by means of the Malgas Pontoon (the last hand operated ferry in the world) and enjoy the best whale watching at De Hoop Nature Reserve.

From here you can travel south to the southern most tip of Africa named L'Aghulhas and visit the famous Aghulhas Lighthouse. Other beautiful beaches to visit are Infanta,Witsand, Arniston and Struisbaai.

When driving in-land, you can visit the Robertson Wine Route or the Montagu Hot Springs. Take a drive through Zuurbraak, (a very interesting town for the exploring traveller) the beautiful Tradouws Pass, Barrydale and back. This is a lovely round trip of 90km. When returning from your fun-filled day, we at Aan de Oever offer you birdwatching and birdcalling in our garden. Or you can just linger on the banks of the Koornlands River, in the swimming pool or on one of the private patios.
